Chester smacks Bolivar, guaranteed state

Chester County’s age 9-10 Dixie Youth baseball all stars scored five runs in the fifth inning and batted around twice in the sixth inning to turn a close contest into a runaway on Monday at the Dixie Youth Park. The 28-8 district tournament win over Bolivar left CC as the only unbeaten team in the event, assuring them of finishing no less than second. More importantly, Chester County is guaranteed a spot in the Dixie Youth AAA state tournament which begins next week in Sweetwater.

East Chester growing steadily

Construction is underway at East Chester Elementary School. Portable classrooms were removed last month to make way for a new permanent wing, and construction workers have been hard at work to get the classrooms finished as close to the beginning of the school year as possible. In addition to the building additions, a brand new Sportsplex is in the works. Crews have broken ground for that project, and it too should be finished during the fall 2013 semester.
