Don Sodowsky

Donald Richard Sodowsky of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, May 29, 2019, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 70 years.

Donald Richard Sodowsky was born on January 27, 1949, in Blackwell to Cecil and Juanita (Deffner) Sodowsky. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1967. He furthered his education by attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in forestry in 1972. Following graduation he moved to Creed, Colorado, and worked for the forestry service. In 1976 he returned to Blackwell and began working for Conoco in Ponca City as a pipefitter. He retired in 2008. On May 17, 2014, he married Amanda Carrigan in Blackwell and they made Blackwell their home. They enjoyed traveling, including visiting Colorado and England, as well as attending shooting matches. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Sodowsky of Blackwell; a brother, David Sodowsky and Christy of Tulsa; a sister-in-law, Edie Sodowsky of Fairfield, Pennsylvania; two nephews, Wayne Sodowsky and Kathy of Apollo, Pennsylvania, and Joel Sodowsky and Valerie of Corapolis, Pennsylvania; three nieces, Jennifer Sodowsky of Sabillasville, Maryland, Megan Sodowsky and Robert of Tulsa, and Melissa Moran and Michael of Tulsa; great nieces and nephews, Madilyn, Joseph, Anna and Thomas of Apollo, Pennsylvania, Iris of Tulsa, and Olivia of Tulsa; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rev. Lee Sodowsky.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1st in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with Rev. Ned Moerbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be Steve Nichols, Mark Kowalski, Sue Priboth, Shirley Scott Fuller, Kear Fuller, Donnie Pierce, Gary Coltharp, Carl Reutter, Don Brown and Tom Eakins.
