by Jordan Green

A local fire department has pledged to donate proceeds from one of its popular annual fundraisers to help a firefighter who is recovering from an accident.

The Deer Creek Volunteer Fire Department Association will give proceeds from its annual soup dinner to Justin Light, a firefighter who was injured in a four-wheeler wreck. Funds will be used to help pay any expenses the firefighter has incurred due to the accident.

According to a press release announcing the event, chili or chicken noodle soup will be served.

The event will be held Jan. 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will take place in the lobby of the Deer Creek-Lamont Elementary School Gymnasium, located at 1643 Main St. in Deer Creek.

Those in attendance are invited to watch the DCLA Eagles high school basketball team play in the gym after the dinner.
