City Council sets Get Real Cable hearing for September 3

by Charles Gerian

Members of the Blackwell City Council met Thursday for their final August meeting to schedule a public hearing for Get Real Cable, LLC. Council members also voted to change the city’s Main Street Beautification Program.

The Council heard from Get Real Cable representatives concerning the company’s application for the renewal of its cable TV license. The company also discussed its rights to operate a community antenna television system within Blackwell’s city limits.

The hearing will be conducted September 3 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The Council then amended the Main Street Beautification Program. Council members allocated $70,000 from the Blackwell Public Trust to the program. The Council also lowered the amount of money applicants receive from $7,500 to $5,000 so that the program can support more businesses.

The Council then approved a licensing agreement with the Blackwell Baseball Association before convening in executive session. Council members took no action when they reconvened in open session.
