Youth Center reopens; seeking donations for masks and sanitary products

The Blackwell Youth Center will reopen with social distancing measures and rules limiting occupancy in place Saturday.
Denise Hindman, director of the youth center, said the youth center will focus on opening on Saturdays rather than Fridays because many youths attend Friday night sporting events. However, the youth center will be open during away-games on Fridays.
Saturday afternoons will be reserved for elementary school-age children
The youth center will be open from 7 – 10 p.m. Only 30 children will be allowed in at a time, and they must have their temperatures taken before being admitted.
“It's all about the safety of our youth,” Hindman said. “Once kids leave, they aren't allowed back in that night. Those who want to bring masks to wear are more than welcome to.”
Hindman said the BYC needs disposable wipes, masks, and other sanitary items that residents can afford to give.
The BYC is also in need of a good printer, she said.
“During the school year, I have to make at least 600 copies for school-age youth to send home info about the youth center,” Hindman said. “Our printer cannot handle that many copies, which is easily 600 for each time.”
Donations can be mailed to the Blackwell Youth Center, P.O. Box 514, Blackwell, OK, 74631.
