Work begins next week on Oklahoma Ave.

Over the next several weeks, the City of Blackwell's Streets and Parks Department will be repairing and resurfacing the 1000 - 1100 block of W. Oklahoma Ave. The road will be blocked off Sept. 9 – 11.

Street Department Director Chuck Anderson said department workers will repair half of the street at a time so that they can keep the street open as much as possible. There may be times, however, when it may be necessary to close the entire street temporarily.

As work is done, access to residential driveways may be blocked until construction is complete. Anderson said that cooperation from citizens is needed and greatly appreciated.

“If your car is to be used, we ask that you utilize the alley, side streets, or possibly coordinate with a neighbor to share their driveway, as parking on the street will not be possible due to the limited amount of space for traffic to get through,” Anderson said.

Work is scheduled to begin on the south side of the street beginning Sept. 9, weather permitting.

Street department officials said they apologize for the inconvenience this work may cause, and ask that residents be patient as work is underway.
