Blackwell rakes in $260 thousand in sales tax revenue to close 2020

The Oklahoma Tax Commission released the sales tax numbers for the Nov.16- 30 and Dec. 1-15 reporting period on January 11. The report shows Blackwell received $259,286 this month compared to $227,730 for the same period last year, a 14-percent increase.

The sales use tax for Blackwell was flat with $42,135 compared to $42,573 in 2019. Kay County had a great month collecting $469,797 compared to $315,796 last year a 48-percent increase. The sales use tax saw a big spike with $202,509 coming into the county coffers versus $50,790 last year.

Ponca City also benefited from more local shoppers as they were 20-percent up over 2019 receiving $1,391,074 compared to $1,163,093 in 2019. Like Blackwell, Ponca City saw a solid increase in the sales use tax this month, receiving $184,400 which was 35-percent over 2019 for the same time when they received $136,983. The City of Newkirk sales tax numbers continued solid sales tax revenues with a seven-percent increase over the 2019 numbers with $36,871 compared to $34,309 in 2019.

The sales use tax numbers jumped 12- percent with $9,585 compared to $8,560 in 2019. Tonkawa bounced back on this report with a seven percent increase over 2019 receiving $130,333 compared to $121,120 in 2019. The sales use tax numbers came in at $21,195 this month which is a 23-percent increase over last year’s numbers of $17,194. Kaw City received $6,471 this month compared to $4,497 in 2019, which was 44-percent ahead of 2019.

The sales use tax was reported as $2,451 compared to $1,292 in 2019, a 90 percent increase over last year. Braman bounced back to $5,349 in sales tax this month after a low reporting month in December, which was 42-percent ahead of 2019 numbers. Braman meanwhile received $1,483 in sales use tax compared to $681 in 2019. Over in Grant County, the sales tax news was not as good. Medford saw a 53-percent decrease this month receiving only $33,300 compared to $70,472 in 2019.

The town got a little help from sales use tax receiving $8,895 compared to $6,320 in 2019. Lamont received $4,355 compared to $3,291 last year, a 32-percent increase over the 2019 numbers. On the sales use tax numbers, Lamont received $1,697 this month compared to $1,423in 2019. Deer Creek took a big hit over last year’s numbers receiving only $729 compared to $1,246 in 2019. The sales use tax was only $343 compared to $65 in 2019. Grant County was 53-percent down receiving only $33,086 compared to $70,52 in 2019.
