Letter to the Editor: Thankful for Jerry Johnston

February 04, 2021

Dear Editor: THANKFUL FOR JERRY. As I read the obituary of Jerry Johnston of Braman this verse came to my mind, under the subtitle Take Heel to Your Ministry I Timothy 4:12 …

“Be an example to the believers in word, in con-duct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Jerry “finished well!” I, Leonard, am from Braman, class of ‘49.

When we were first married in ’53 we lived in Black-well and I worked for Powell Plumbing. Then I was drafted and spent two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corp., during the Korean Conflict.

I came home and again worked for Powell Plumbing and the Power Plant. Fast forward, in ’99, we came back to the home coming held in the Braman school gym, my 50th class reunion. Since then, we have been back several times for Braman Days, funerals, and home comings.

Each time we have seen Jerry. The last was the Braman home coming at the South Haven Community center in ’19 and there was Jerry volunteering for the next home coming.

He wasn’t the first to volunteer but realized his “input” would be helpful. That home coming was can-celled Oct. ’20. Be encouraged to “FINISH WELL”. Leonard L Baylor Elsie P Baylor Carlton, WA
