Blackwell Board of Education swears in Bickford at regular meeting

The Blackwell Board of Education met last night to discuss several matters including the employment of key positions within Blackwell Public Schools. The meeting began just after 6 p.m. where the Board formally accepted the resignation of Phil Green and swore in Tami Bickford as his replacement for the remainder of his term.

The BOE also accepted the resignations of John Waycaster and Cale Schnell- custodians for BES and BMS respectively- as well as the resignation of Chad Bodenstein, the assistant BMS principal and head The Blackwell Board of Education met last night to discuss several matters including the employment of key positions within Blackwell Public Schools.

The BOE also accepted the resignations of John Waycaster and Cale Schnell- custodians for BES and BMS respectively- as well as the resignation of Chad Bodenstein, the assistant BMS principal and head girls basketball coach.

The Board convened into executive session soon after to discuss the employment of district administrators and directors for the 21-22 school year. When they returned to open session, the BOE approved Gerry Magin as BHS principal, EJ Edgar as BHS assistant principal, Mark Meador as BHS athletic director, Becky Miller as BMS principal, Melissa Moore as BES principal for grades 3-5, Melissa Agee as BES principal grades 1 & 2, Jennifer Hankins as BES principal for grades prek & kindergarten, Bobbi Tripp as special education director, and Jamie Burtner as Federal Program Director. Principal Haskins spoke to the Board, mentioning that the bonds for the elementary school will be sold on April 23 and that the 2021-22 calendar has been approved. Haskins was optimistic that the COVID-19 pandemic is finally dissipating, allowing school to return to normalcy as the year continues
