Group seeks funding for amphitheater in Newkirk

The Kay County Amphitheater is going to be great for the Kay County community. It will be a premier venue and completely funded through private donations. The large stage will be built on the property that housed the Newkirk High School at 9th and Main Street.

The location is going to be an outdoor plaza with open seating for 300 plus people. This will be a space for class reunions and concerts, as well as providing an outdoor venue for students to perform and perfect their skills. Many more events are possible. The amphitheater will have a 25’x50’ raised concrete stage with steps, and a quality free standing open pavilion. The stage to be built will face the east and, ADA public restrooms will be located near the amphitheater.

An attractive seven foot cultured stone sound wall will serve as the backdrop and provide for outstanding acoustics. The Kay County Amphitheater volunteers recognize that the community is working hard to improve the overall quality of life in Kay County and appreciate all that you are doing. This is a new chapter for our government square. In 1893, our founding fathers set the framework for a beautiful historic courthouse and it is now time to look forward to how we can affect future generations in our county.

The plans are progressing with fundraising to include the citizens. The remaining amount of $43,000.00 is needed to complete this project, which amounts to the last 20 percent of the cost. Construction is scheduled for the summer of 2021 with hopes of welcoming performers to the new stage in the fall of 2021. Donors may honor a loved one, friend or colleague with a gift in memory of their name.

A donor making a contribution of $20,000.00 or more, can have their own personalized amphitheater bench. A donor wall will include the preferred name for those contributing $1,893.00 or more made by March 31st. All donations are tax-deductible and you will receive a receipt via email or mail.
