Blackwell's sales tax revenue continues to thrive

The Oklahoma Tax Commission released the sales tax numbers for the Jan. 16- 31 and Feb. 1-15 were released last week. The report shows Blackwell received $246,127 this month compared to $253,147 last year and was also slightly down from the $276,160 received in February.

The sales use tax for Blackwell rebounded from a down month with $35,857 compared to $20,673 last year and was only slightly down from last month when the city received $38,112 compared to $48,901 in 2020. Kay County was down in their tax receipts this month with only $419,104 compared to $488,856 in 2020 for the same time and was below last month’s numbers of $475,386.

The sales use tax also saw a small increase with $59,141 compared to $49,817 but well below the $91,747 collected last month. Ponca City continues to benefit from more local shoppers as they were 30-percent up over 2020 receiving $1.290 million this month compared to $992,758 in 2020 but was down slightly from the $1.381 million received last month. Ponca City saw a solid increase in the 2021 sales use tax with $127,177 compared to $71,353 but saw a huge drop from last month when the city received $195,433 compared to $157,525 last year.

The City of Newkirk sales tax numbers fell slightly this month about ten percent to $31,898 from $34,358 in 2020. The revenues were also 33-percent down from the February report when the city received $41,217. The sales use tax numbers saw a 50-percent fall from last year at $7,796 compared to $15,952 and was also off from the $12,125 it received last month. Tonkawa had a ten-percent increase in sales tax this month getting $126,171 compared to $113,464 in 2020.

The town was slightly down from the $128,836 received last month. The sales use tax numbers came in at $15,836 which was a solid increase over the $9,351 received in 2020 but was down by 50-percent to the $18,550 received last month. Kaw City was down 50-perccent from a month ago with only $7,957 compared to $15,078 last month but was over last year’s numbers of $3,778. The sales use tax was reported as $2,147 compared to $927 2020. Braman had another solid month with $7,877 compared to $4,425 last year. Braman meanwhile received only $730 in sales use tax compared to $1,427 in 2020. Over in Grant County, Medford saw a slight increase this month with $39,387 compared to $33,364 last year and the $33,018 received last month. The sales use tax was down to $2,936 compared to the $16,579 received last month.

Lamont received $5,107 compared to $3,664 last year, a 25-percent increase over the 2020 numbers. On the sales use tax numbers, Lamont received $940. Deer Creek took a big hit over last year’s numbers receiving only $375 compared to $1,172 in 2020.

The sales use tax was only $279. Grant County was ten-percent down receiving $45,144 compared to $48,341 in 2020 but up from the $31,816 received last month. The sales use tax collected dropped 50-percent to $9,196 compared to $18,032 last month and the $14,446 collected in 2020. The state disbursed $155.156 million this month in sales tax to the municipalities, which is an increase of $13.1 million over February 2020.The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $24.9 million this month.
