Starting Monday, August 2, 2021 milling road work will begin from Padon to Doolin Ave. Starting with the outside lanes.

The City of Blackwell released the following information Tuesday, July 27, detailing the next stage of the extensive work:

"This will continue for 3 days, traffic cones will be in place and the road will still be drivable. On Sunday, August 7, 2021, through August 9, 2021 from the hours of 9:00 PM-0600 AM new asphalt will be laid starting with the outside lanes. Traffic cones will be in place along with an escort vehicle as needed."

The $2.5 million project is spearheaded by Ponca City paving contractor Evans & Associates and has been in the planning stages for months. The project is a full resurfacing Main Street, and it is expected to be completed in the fall.

The work on Main Street, also known as US Highway 177, is one of several projects that ODOT has detailed in its 8-year plan for Kay County.
