Are things worse now than ever? Not while God is in control.

by Mike Dvorak

Greetings Everyone, The past few weeks have been very unsettling when it comes to events around the world. There are many things and many places that are causing concern to the world population. Wars, disease, human rights, lies, deceit; the list goes on and on.

Where does it stop? When does it stop? Will it stop? All of these questions have an effect on everyone on the planet Earth.

The question has been asked if the world is worse off today than it was a few years ago. Are things in more disarray than they were centuries ago? What about 2100 years ago when Jesus walked the earth? People will argue that things are much harder and harsher than it used to be.

I will argue that maybe things appear to be more unsettled because we have more news sources to keep us informed and more capabilities to give real-time reporting of events around the world. With newspapers, radios, televisions, smartphones, and computers, we have constant access to what is taking place anywhere on this planet at any time. Think back in time to the Pony Express days. The Pony Express was able to carry mail from one coast to the other in about 10 days.

That was fast compared to the time of the Roman Empire when news was carried by curriers on foot, running as fast as they could. Compare that to today when we can call anywhere around the globe at any time. Yes, things are different today in many ways with communications and accessibility being one of them. On the other side of the coin, some things have not changed. You might ask “what”? I will tell you that God Almighty has not changed.

None. The Bible tells us that God is the same today as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8). I know that I have said this before, but like a good friend of mine who seems to repeat himself a lot always says, “You can’t tell them too many times”. God is in charge and is in control of the matters at hand. God in control.

What does that mean for us and all of mankind? It means we don’t have to worry about things, especially those things we have no control over. It means that no matter how upset we get with a situation, God has it under control. We have an assurance that regardless how weak we are, or how much we sin, God is still the one in charge. Does it really matter though? If it doesn’t, it should. There is our assurance that in the end God wins and we as Christians win.

What do we win? We gain eternal life if we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and accept Him as such.

Since the beginning of time, people have searched for something greater than themselves. Adam and Eve thought there was more than just the Garden of Eden. When Jesus walked the earth, people thought there was more and they waited for a messiah to appear.

Today many people ask what is going on in this world. Isn’t there more? Just as in days past, people will be fooled and lied to. People looked for answers and still do. The only answer I have is to wake up. God is real and his son, Jesus Christ died for our sins.

That is the answer. Jesus. He is what everyone needs. He is the solution to our problems. We will never have a perfect life here on earth but I know that my Savior Jesus is here, walking beside each believer while we make our journey towards eternity. If you don’t have that confidence in your life, don’t wait. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Find out for yourself how much He loves you. If you are you are already a Christian, thank God every day for His grace and mercy that he gives you every day.

Peace and blessings to all
