Vote YES on Tuesday to modernize Blackwell High and ensure student safety
Dear Editor:
On August 30th, the Blackwell Board of Education approved calling a $23,550.000.00 school bond issue that will appear on the ballot Tuesday Nov 9, 2021. If approved, it would provide the district with much-needed building improvements to update and modernize the campus of Blackwell High School.
Not only does this plan bring the campus into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, but it will also allow our district to enhance student safety and to provide our students with the best learning environment possible. Blackwell High School was built in 1962, and in many ways, the building remains as it was built 59 years ago.
It has a solid structure, but needs to be updated to accommodate the twenty-first century student. By passing this bond, we are assuring that the future students of BHS are in an environment that is on the cut-ting edge to accommodate the modern student.
We must be proactive by reinvesting in our schools. Blackwell kids deserve the best. Please vote YES to keep BHS the best. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 363-2570 or go to “Blackwell Public Schools Bond 2021” on Facebook to learn more about the bond proposal.
Sincerely, Shawn Haskins Superintendent Blackwell Public Schools
