Kay County youth pageant set for December 10

The Kay County Youth Pageants Committee has finalized details for the Christmas pageant to take place Dec. 10 at the Blackwell Event Center.

Sign-ups for the Snowflakes and Sparkles ChristmasPageant will be open until Nov. 28.

The pageant will have a “Christmas wear” and “formal wear” section at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Interview questions for the contestants will begin at 10 a.m. Registration the day of will be at 9 a.m.

At registration, parents will register their contestants and pick up their numbers. There will also be a stage question asked in the categories for children ages eight and above. The question wilbe chosen from among four to seven questions contests will receive in advance and answer in formal wear.

The pageant will be broken down into age divisions: Three-to-five-year-olds will be in the “Tiny SnowflakePrince and Princess” division. Six-and-seven-year-olds will be the “Little Snowflake Prince and Princess” division. Eight to-11-year-olds will be in the “Pre-Teen Snowflake Prince and Princess” category. 12 to 14-year-olds will be under the “Teen Snowflake Prince and Princess” division. Ages 15-18 will be “Miss and Mr. Snowflake.”

The pageant is open to boys and girls. Entry forms can be picked up at in Blackwell at BancFirst, Blackwell Tire and Prairie Smoke BBQ. Elsewhere in Kay County, they can be found at the Newkirk Public Library, the Tonkawa Public Library, and Genesis Salon in Ponca City.

Forms can be e-mailed or mailed to interested parties by contacting the pageant at kaycountyyouthpageants@gmail. com. The entry fee for the pageant is $35, with sponsorship opportunities available. There will also be discounts applied for multiple children in a family where the price will be $25 per each additional child.

Participants will be required to attend meetings Nov. 28, Dec. 3 and Dec. 6. Parents must attend one of the meetings. Spectators for the event will be asked for an entry fee of either $1 or two canned goods. The winners will present the collected goods to a local food bank.

There will also be a “People’s Choice Award,” where contestants will have the option to decorate a box with their picture on it. The People’s Choice Award will be voted on by buying tickets at the event to be deposited into the respective boxes.

The entry form asks for three words that describe the entrant, a favorite color, favorite movie, past time, hobbies, career ambitions, academic honors and scholarly achievements.
