No elections develop for spring in school board / city council
No contested elections for public office will occur in the Blackwell area in the spring.
No candidates for the Blackwell City Council, Blackwell Board of Education or the Peckham Board of Education were opposed, Kay County Election Board Secretary Carol Leaming said Friday.
Donald “Jon” Webb, Blackwell’s interim mayor and a longtime Blackwell City Council member, was the only candidate to file for the mayor’s race.
Webb assumed the interim mayor’s role following the resignation of former Mayor T.J. Greenfield this year.
Karey Henderson, a long-time resident and a current Blackwell City Councilmember, filed for the WardNo. 2 seat on the Blackwell City Council.
Robert Husted,also a resident and currentCouncil member, filed forthe Ward No. 3 Council seat. Rich Cantillon, a former Blackwell Area Chamber of Commerce director and the retiring director of the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce, filed for the Ward No. 3 seat on the Blackwell Board of Education.
Tessa Jeffries was the only candidate to file for Peckham School BoardWard No. 3.
