Charlene Flanery returns to Blackwell Industrial Authority
A familiar face is returning to Blackwell to lead the Blackwell Industrial Authority.
The Blackwell Industrial Authority board of trustees met in a special meeting on August 8, 2023 to rehire Charlene Flanery as their executive director.
Flanery was hired by the Enid Regional Development Alliance in February of this year where
she worked as their executive director. Flanery resigned from her Enid position in July.
Flanery, now certified through the International Economic Development Council, previously worked for the Blackwell Industrial and Economic Development Authorities for six years prior to her going to Enid.
“I’m excited to be back home in Kay County with the Blackwell Community. We will pick up where we left off, but with a new vision for Blackwell.” said Flanery.
Flanery began her duties as executive director on August 14, 2023.
Blackwell Mayor Pat Hullet said:
“I am delighted that she has returned to the Blackwell BIA as the Director. She has recently received her economic development certificate from the state and I believe that will be very helpful. She is excited to be back in Blackwell and I’m excited to work with her.”
Blackwell City Manager Jerry Wieland was eager to work with Flannery again, stating:
“We are excited to have Charlene back at the BIA. Her drive and experience have improved Blackwell in the past few years. The future is brighter for Blackwell with her return to the BIA. I'm beyond excited to work with her in the future!”
