Ruth Ann Johnson
Ruth Ann Johnson was born in Cylinder, Iowa on May 8, 1935, the youngest of four children of Royce and Ann Calentine. From the day she was born her family called her “Ruthie.” She was small but mighty and impressed all those who knew her with her strength, speed and determination.
She grew up in Iowa, where she received her early education. Ruthie and her sister worked at a local hotel where they waited tables. When she was 18 she lived with her Grandma Calentine and had many fond memories of playing cards and seeing Western movies at the theatre. It was also during this time that she was a Sunday school Teacher.
Ruthie’s first office job was in the advertising dept. for Falstaff Beer in Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1958 she married Don Johnson in Omaha, Nebraska. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
Ruthie died peacefully and surrounded by family in the early morning on Dec. 21. 2023. She left an indelible mark on those that met her as she was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children; David Johnson and wife Judy, daughter, Julie Love and her husband Jeff and Eric Johnson; her grandchildren, Tad and wife Ashley, Courtney, Micol and his wife Alexa, Billi and husband Tyler, Miranda and husband Taylor, Austin and her husband Kellen, and Savanna; great-grandchildren, Jace, Paisley, Audi, Lakota, Addie, Trinity, Paisley, Estin, Raelyn, Tyberious, Holly, Arthur, Sebastian, Lily, Oliver and Venus.
Honorary casket bearers will be Tad Johnson, Micol Stanley, Taylor Lewis, Kellen Hughes, Tyler Martin, Craig Johnson and Rich Johnson.
