Tulips A Bloom returns with parade, live music, contests, and more
Blackwell is currently gearing up for the annual Tulips A Bloom Festival which is set for April 6th at the Fairgrounds located on south Main Street from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
As always, the event will feature shopping vendors, food, games, contests, giveaways, photoshoots with props, pony rides, spring crafts, a scavenger hunt, cotton candy, snow cones, a mini petting zoo, and live music including a show by local musician Cassy Kendrick from 12-1 p.m sponsored by Blackwell Tourism.
It wouldn’t be a Tulips Festival, of course, without a parade. The annual Tulips A Bloom Parade will be held that Saturday morning, April 6, at 10:45 a.m. down Main Street.
Anyone can participate in the parade. Businesses, animals that are harnessed, kids/bikes, and Non-profits / floats are more than welcome to attend.
Lineup will be Saturday April 6th at 10:30 a.m. Everyone will meet at the corner of Main and Frisco by the Blackwell Co-op. The parade starts at 10:45 a.m. heading south down Main St. to the Fairgrounds.
Entrants are welcome to pass out candy, Walk, and hand out branded merchandise or other items but are encouraged not to throw candy from vehicles.
There will also be a Spring into Summer Best Decorated Contest during the parade including bikes, vehicles, floats, or other entries. All contestants need to meet at the Whitman arena parking area directly after the parade for judging

There will also be another Decorated Business Contest. Any business wishing to participate is encouraged to call 580-262-9002 with judging taking place Friday April 5 from 5-7 p.m.
Other sponsors include the City of Blackwell who will be sponsoring the Inspyral Circus performers as well as the Kay County Fair Board, CFM Foundry, Blackwell House of Prayer, Los Potros, BancFirst, Waymakers Floral, Homeland Grocery, Lakeview Campground & Boat Storage, Pizza Hut, Lowe’s, RCB Bank, Heather Cannon Honda, Brett and Bobbi Bergman, Kay Electric, Blackwell Mini Storage, and several others who are being announced on the Tulips A Bloom Festival’s Facebook site leading up to the event.
Volunteers are also wanted for the event. Volunteering will consist of helping set up,helping with games,contests,giveaways,patroling the grounds,trash pickup,photo props,working the festival booth, and any other activities throughout the day, as well as clean up after the Festival.
