George Russell Turvey

A celebration of life for George Russell Turvey, age 96, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, will take place Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Nardin Methodist Church, 108 West Main St., Nardin, Oklahoma. George passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

George was born March 11,1928 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of Harold and Grace Turvey. On August 22,1954 he married the love of his life, Tonya Nell Naylor.

George graduated from Blackwell High School and later from Oklahoma A&M. George owned his own meat processing plant, taught Sunday school to 5-year-olds for many years, enjoyed tennis, dancing, and raising quarter horses. George served in the United States Army in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Tonya; son, Mark Turvey and wife, Renee; daughter, Susan Fisher and husband, Brit; daughter Stacia Enns and husband, Doug; Grandchildren, Autumn Gwin, Brady Fisher, Marcy Fisher, Riley Enns and Carly Enns; Great Grandchildren, Grace, Emily & Jacob Gwin. George is also survived by his sister, Carol Sjoberg.

He was preceded in death by grandson Justin Turvey. Also preceded in death are siblings, Bill Turvey, Alice Anderson, and Allen Turvey.
