Blackwell Pool closed for the summer after vandalism

The Blackwell Memorial Pool has been closed for the rest of the summer following a vandalism incident where glass was dumped in the pool.

The City of Blackwell made the announcement Thursday evening:

"Due to vandalism and in the interest of public safety, the Blackwell Memorial Pool will be CLOSED for the remainder of the 2024 season.

A sizeable amount of glass was dumped into the Blackwell Memorial Pool in the shallow end, near the children's slide.

The substantial amount of shards, large and small, that have spread through the water and systems are a serious concern to the safety of the public and our employees."
