Nancy Fetters

Nancy Jane Evans Fetters was born to Sherman Edgar Evans & Bertha Lea Hackler Evans on January 30, 1932, in Blackwell, OK and passed away on November 20th, 2024, at the age of 92. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public schools and graduating from Blackwell High School in 1950.

On December 10, 1950, she married William “Henry” Fetters at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Blackwell. To this union was born a son Chris Wayne and a daughter Vickie Denise.

Nancy furthered her education in accounting, Banking & Bank Management at Northern Oklahoma College, American Bankers Association, (American Institute of Banking) & Pioneer Vo Tech.

She worked at S.H. Kress, Safeway, Hazel Atlas Glass Company, & Sears before going to work at First National Bank & Trust for 24 years & Central National Bank for 6 years. She ended her banking career of 30 years when she retired in 1998.

Nancy was active volunteering in many organizations serving as President & other offices in the National Association of Bank Women, American Businesswomen Association, American Red Cross, & Blackwell Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she helped with their bazaars and in the church office on the Finance Committee.  She enjoyed going to the lake, camping with her family and dancing with Henry. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry and her brother Jerry Evans. She leaves behind her son Chris Fetters and wife Debbie of Enid, daughter Denise Day and husband Ross of Highland Village, TX. Grandchildren Cristin Hager, Chase Fetters, Alysse Harrison, Keaton Day, Valerie Fisher, Traci McHenry, Tisha Blubaugh and Kyle Johnson. 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Dorothy Hill and husband James, Charlene Canedy and husband John and many nieces & nephews. 

She was a wonderful lady and loved by all that knew her.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 am, Saturday November 23rd in the chapel at the Blackwell Cemetery.  Family visitation will be on Friday November 22nd from 5:00-7:00 pm at Roberts Funeral Home. 

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Top of Oklahoma Historical Society Museum in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W Padon, Blackwell OK 74631.
