John Dennis Whitehead, 66, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on January 4, 2025, in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
John was born on April 4 1958, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Walter and Betty L. (Henry) Whitehead.
John attended Blackwell Public Schools where he graduated in 1976. He then went to work for Speed King. He began his family in May of 1981 in Blackwell. OK. John continued his education at Northern Oklahoma College, in Tonkawa, Ok. and Phillips University, in Enid, Ok. with a bachelors in arts degree for Elementary education. John was employed by Enid public school for many years. Afterwards, returning to Blackwell to begin teaching for Blackwell Public School. John also worked for many places in the Blackwell community.
John was an avid Oklahoma Sooner Fan. You could always count on him wearing the true colors of crimson and cream no matter where he was. He was a member of The First Church Nazarene all his life. He was onry and always full of wit and humor. Most of all he loved his grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his brothers Mike Whitehead and Terry Whitehead of Blackwell, Ok. Son’s, Adam Whitehead and wife Jennifer of Blackwell, Ok, Jeffery Whitehead of Blackwell, Ok; Daughter Candace Allen and husband Austin of Tonkawa, Ok. Nieces Jennifer Turner and husband Jason of Blackwell, Ok; Terri Garcia and husband Andres of Madison, NE. Kristen Hamburg and husband Ian of Atlanta GA, Nephews; David Stucky and wife Shawna of State College, PA, Dustin Stucky of Frisco, Tx; Great Nephews Dakota Turner and wife Jaelynn of Blackwell, OK Brent Turner of Blackwell, Ok Grandchildren; Dylan Stoker, Brian Stoker, Ilana Allen and husband Jacob, Connor Holden, Ciara Stoker, Landon Brown, Kipton Brown. Great Granddaughter Braeleigh Stoker.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents John T. Whitehead and wife Nora, AD Henry and wife Beulah. Parents Walter Whitehead and wife Betty. Brother Mark Whitehead (D.D.). Sister Jan Johnson and Aunt Catherine Henry.
Celebration of life scheduled for 2:00 pm., Friday, February 7th at Blackwell First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Josie Busby officiating.
