New chiropractic clinic, Healing Hands, opens in Blackwell
February 07, 2025
Blackwell has a new place for healing and wellness, thanks to Dr. Sara Wilson and her newly opened chiropractic clinic, Healing Hands Chiropractic. With a passion for helping others and a commitment to providing quality care, Dr. Wilson is eager to bring her expertise to the community she calls home.
From a young age, Dr. Wilson knew she wanted to help people, and her journey led her to chiropractic care. A recent graduate of Cleveland University-Kansas City, she gained hands-on experience treating patients in both student and outpatient clinics. Her training included a variety of techniques, such as low-force activator methods, SOT blocking, and flexion/distraction techniques.
“I love the small-town atmosphere of Blackwell, and since it's close to my hometown of Braman, it felt like the perfect place to start my practice,” said Dr. Wilson.
Unlike common misconceptions that chiropractors only treat spinal issues, Dr. Wilson emphasizes that chiropractic care affects the entire body. “The spine houses the nervous system, so when we adjust the spine, we’re influencing the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems,” she explained. Many of her past patients have reported unexpected benefits, such as improved breathing and better digestion.
At Healing Hands Chiropractic, Dr. Wilson provides adjustments for the spine, upper extremities, and lower extremities. “The body is a kinematic chain,” she noted, “so addressing an ankle issue, for example, can also improve conditions in the knee, hip, and spine.”
Dr. Wilson is equipped to help patients with various musculoskeletal concerns, but low back pain and shoulder-related discomfort are the most common complaints she has treated. Another issue she frequently encounters is “text neck,” a condition caused by prolonged forward head posture while using phones or devices.
For those hesitant to try chiropractic care, Dr. Wilson believes in open conversation. “I always ask people why they are hesitant and try to address their concerns. If I don’t have an answer immediately, I’ll find one,” she said.
As a new business owner, Dr. Wilson is actively working to connect with the community. She has started advertising through word-of-mouth and has set up a Facebook page to spread the word. She is also looking into ways to participate in local health events and offer discounts for teachers, pending legal considerations.
“I want to find ways to give back to the community,” she said. “Someone mentioned a local health day, and I’d love to be involved.”
Healing Hands Chiropractic is located at 206 E Blackwell Ave. (enter through the south door). Dr. Wilson sees patients Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments can be booked by calling (580) 448-0318 or online at healinghandsblackwell.janeapp.com, where new patients can also complete their intake paperwork in advance.
Currently, the clinic accepts cash and checks, with plans to finalize Medicare billing soon. Dr. Wilson encourages anyone with questions to reach out, as she is more than happy to provide information and guidance on chiropractic care.
For Dr. Wilson, the most rewarding part of being a chiropractor is seeing her patients improve and regain their ability to do what they love. “Helping people progress and feel better is what drives me every day,” she said.
As Healing Hands Chiropractic takes root in Blackwell, Dr. Wilson is excited to grow her practice and bring relief and wellness to the community, one adjustment at a time.
A healthy Kay County requires great community news.
