Diana Alma Coltharp, beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, in-law, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. She was born on October 10, 1947, to Oscar and Dora Giri in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Diana made her first journey to the United States, at the age of 16, in July of 1964. She attended Blackwell High School as a foreign exchange student hosted by the Bynum family. During her Senior year she made many friends, including her future husband, Gary Coltharp. She was a member of the National Honor Society, received a merit award in Choir and the American Field Service International Scholarship. She was also crowned Basketball Queen and graduated with her beloved class in May of 1965.
Upon graduation, Diana returned home to Argentina to attend the Universidad del Salvador and obtained a degree in Historia y Letras (History of Lyrics). She and her parents flew to the United States in December of 1967 where she married Gary Coltharp at the First Christian Church. Gary and Diana welcomed two boys to their family, Terry Jay Coltharp and Tracy Lee Coltharp. She was proudly sworn in as a Naturalized Citizen of the United State in May of 1973.
Diana was a woman of many talents including painting animals, portraits, scenery and her grandchildren. She stayed busy with her many hobbies, including crocheting, knitting, teaching guitar lessons, going to her sons’ sporting events, camping, playing Bridge, attending Sunday School class at the Methodist Church and spending hours each week preparing a lesson for her Bible Study group,
Diana worked for the Ellis Law firm and at Security Bank in the 80’s. In 1983, she obtained her certification in Consumer Lending at Pioneer Area Vocational-Technical School. She was a volunteer interpreter for the Blackwell Police Department. With her loving heart to help others, she studied and became a Nursing Home Administrator, first at Blackwell and Hillcrest Nursing Homes, later at Ponca City Nursing Home and ended her career as Administrator at the Nursing Home in Wakita, OK.
Upon retirement, she became a member of the Explorer Bible Study group and a Discussion Leader. This group that was near and dear to her heart began meeting in the summer of 2010. She enjoyed attending and participating in her Sunday School Class at Blackwell United Methodist Church. In the Spring of 2024, Gary and Diana moved to the Legacy Retirement Village in Stillwater, Oklahoma to be near family.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Dora Giri, of Argentina, her father-in-law Darrell Coltharp and her brother-in-laws Tommy Coltharp and Ricky Vandermeer. She is survived by her husband, Gary Coltharp, her son Terry (Susan) Coltharp of Stillwater, OK, her son Tracy (Rhonda) Coltharp of Owasso, OK and Grandchildren, Curtis (Allison) Coltharp of Yukon, OK, Caitlin (Zayne) Dougan of Stillwater, OK, Emerson, Rory and Bentley Coltharp and Great Grandchildren Lainey and Ryder Dougan, and her in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life honoring Diana will be held at the Blackwell First United Methodist Church on February 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm. All who had the pleasure of knowing her are invited to join in commemorating the precious person she was.
