Free Food Program returning to Blackwell Library in June

April 10, 2025

The Blackwell Public Library has new displays, a new website, and have also announced information on various programs returning for the Spring / Summer 2025 season.

The Blackwell Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will begin June 9 and run through July 11, with programs and prize basket drawings. More information will be revealed soon on sign-ups and details.

The Library’s Free Summer Food Program will also be returning, beginning June 4 and running through July 30.

Every Wednesday from 2-3 pm residents may pick up a box that provides 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches/dinners for each child 1-18 in the household.

The child does NOT need to be present to pick up.

The person picking up does need to be the parent or guardian of all children they are picking up for, however.

Those participating in the program are encouraged to line up on S 1st Street, as Library staff will wrap around the front of the Library to distribute fastest.

For the month of April, the Blackwell Public Library has put up their “Poet-Tree” display for National Poetry Month which highlights local poets as well as celebrated icons.

Library staff have also spent the last few weeks completely reorganizing their “Oklahoma Room” on the west side of the building, which contains works by and about Oklahomans including works by local authors as well as historical nonfiction books about the state, county, and Blackwell itself.
