Cinco De Mayo set for May 3 at Blackwell Fairgrounds
April 10, 2025

Plans are underway for Blackwell Tourism’s second annual Cinco de Mayo celebration.
“It’s going to be bigger and even better than last year”, according to board president Kim Shoffner. The event will be held at the agriculture building on the Blackwell Fairgrounds from 6-10pm on Saturday, May 3.
“VJ Teo Garcia is the DJ for the event. He promises lights, sound, music and a spectacular surprise for the kids”, Shoffner added. Drawings for prizes will be held throughout the evening.
The event has grown over the last two years and over 500 attended last year.
The elementary school students will be making maracas at school for the event. This year there will be more activities for the kids, adding a rubber duck pool game.

“We’ve had so many donations that we will have drawings every 30 minutes throughout the event”, Shoffner added.
Each attendee will be given a ticket and must be present to win. Prizes range from a variety of gift cards, gift baskets, gift certificates, two Fire 7 tablets and smart TVs.
