Blackwell Public Library Launches 2025 Summer Food Program with Weekly Grab & Go Meal Boxes
The Blackwell Public Library is once again teaming up with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Hunger Free Oklahoma to bring back its popular Grab & Go Meal Box program for summer 2025.

The program officially launched last week with the help of the Blackwell Public Power Electric Department.
Every Wednesday in June and July, families can pick up free meal boxes filled with nutritious, shelf-stable food for children. Each box contains five breakfasts and five lunches—enough to provide a week’s worth of meals per child. The program is available to all children ages 1–18, and children do not need to be present at the time of pickup. However, a parent or guardian must be present to collect the boxes.
Distribution takes place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and supplies are limited—boxes will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.
To keep things running smoothly, the library has a designated pickup route: vehicles should enter from 1st Street, follow the loop around the library to Padon Avenue, enter the alley between the Library and the Top of Oklahoma Historical Museum, and exit onto College Avenue. Boxes will be distributed from the Museum Clubroom during the one-hour pickup window.

Walk-ups welcome, a vehicle is not needed.
Library staff hope the weekly meal boxes help ease the burden for families during the summer months when school meals are unavailable.
“This program is about making sure kids in our community have access to food even when school is out,” said a library representative. “It’s an easy, no-questions-asked way to help families stay nourished and healthy.”
