Community Rallies to Rebuild Blackwell House of Prayer After Devastating Fire
Months after a fire destroyed the fellowship hall of the Blackwell House of Prayer, the community is coming together to help the church rebuild what was lost.
A special benefit event will be held on Friday, August 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Blackwell High School Auditorium to raise funds for the reconstruction efforts.
The benefit will feature performances by multiple musical groups, a bake sale, and a silent auction.

“The House of Prayer has poured so much into this community for so many years,” Aaron Baldridge with the House of Prayer said. “Now it’s the House of Prayer asking for the community’s help in return.”
The fire that destroyed the fellowship hall earlier this spring was ruled an act of arson, and though the damage was devastating, it hasn’t shaken the church’s spirit. Supporters hope that this event will provide a financial and emotional lift to the congregation as they work to restore their space for worship, fellowship, and outreach.
Local residents, businesses, and church members are encouraged to attend the benefit, contribute to the silent auction, or donate baked goods for the sale. All proceeds will go directly toward rebuilding efforts.
A healthy Kay County requires great community news.
