Excessive heat hits Blackwell Pool: Hours changing this week

The excessive heat which has been plaguing the Midwest this summer has caused the City of Blackwell to change the operating hours of the Blackwell Public Pool beginning Tomorrow, July 18.

The Blackwell Memorial Pool will be open only from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. through Thursday, July 21, the City of Blackwell shared to their official Facebook page Sunday night.

The pool will not be open during its regular hours of 1 -6 p.m. through Thursday but will resume operation as normal Friday, July 22 and into the weekend.

This move is being done, according to an official statement from the City of Blackwell, to provide relief to the pool's staff as temperatures are expected to climb once again this week into the triple digits with several outlets predicting temperatures to get as high as 112 degrees.
